Table a la carte

When we remodeled the patio I lost the big boulder by my lounge chairs that acted as my table.
If you have a lounge chair it's pretty essential to have a table handy for your drink.
So, after some strong hints about needing a table my creative husband decided to make one for me out of this old cart.

I think it came for an old cannery in town.  Who knows why Clyde had it but it has been quietly gathering dust behind the shop just waiting to be made into something cool.

Clyde had these old lag bolts that he'd gotten from a garage sale for a dollar...dug those out and they were the perfect height.

Measured out the size of the table top

and then cut it out.

He had to beat the table top violently for some reason....or maybe he just needed to work off some aggression...hard to say.

To make the new metal top match the patina (fancy way of saying rusty) of the cart he made a mix of peroxide, vinegar and salt.  It rusted up in no time flat, a couple of layers of clear coat and it was ready to go.

All ready for a drink, preferably one with an umbrella in it.
Look at Hissy, she's even admiring the lovely workmanship.

My cute little table...you won't see another one of these around, that's what you call custom!
